A couple of hours at the Kelpies near Falkirk on a grey, breezy September morning, with the two steel horse heads towering over the lawns and the canal basin. Margaret and John took selfies on the grass with both heads behind them, then walked in close for the view straight up the muzzle, out to the lock gates for the side-on angle, and around the pool at the base where John stood for a photo. A storyboard along the way explained the Clydesdales behind the sculptures and how four workers assembled them on site. Overcast skies suited the metal perfectly — it made the plates look even more like shifting light on water.
